Offensive Depth Chart
QB: Drew Allar, Beau Pribula, Jaxon Smolik
Allar is supposed to be the guy to lead Penn State to greater heights, and he has all the tools to do it. The one minor concern is the depth in the Lion's quarterback room, as Allar in his backup Beau Pribula are both going into their second years and are the most veteran players at the position.
RB: Nicholas Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Trey Potts, Cam Wallace
They are potentially the best running back combo in the entire conference. Allar will have a fantastic run game to lean on which should help him work his way into comfort leading the team
WR: Dante Cephas, Harrison Wallace III, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Omari Evans, Malik, McClain, Liam Clifford
While the receiving room graduated its top three pass catchers from last season, there is a ton of talent in the two deep still. It is headlined by Kent State Transfer Dante Cephas, who is a proven commodity at the college level with almost 2,000 receiving yards over the last two seasons. While KeAndrea Lambert-Smith is a big play three, too, after averaging over 16 yards per catch last season.
TE: Theo Johnson, Tyler Warren
Theo Johnson is a big play threat down the season after averaging 16+ on over 20 catches last season, and he will likely see an increase in his target share this year.
LT: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Drew Shelton
LG: Landon Tengwall, JB Nelson
C: Hunter Nourzad, Nick Dawkins
RG: Sal Wormley, Olaivavega Ioane
RT: Caedan Wallace, Ibrahim Traore
One of the best lines, not just in the Big Ten but the entire country, that will protect a young Allar while paving 4-lane highway-sized holes for an already elite group of running backs.
Defensive Depth Chart
DT: Hakeem Beamon, Dvon Ellies, Zane Durant, Jordan Van Dan Berg
EDGE: Chop Robinson, Adisa Isaac, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Amin Vanover
Coming off a season where the Nittany Lions led the Big Ten in sacks, the D-line group should be one of the best in the conference again.
MLB: Kobe King, Tyler Elsdon
OLB: Curtis Jacob, Abdul Carter,, Keon Wylie, Dominic DeLuca, Tony Rojas
A unit that still needs to come along some but has the talent to do so, with some physical freaks.
CB: Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, Cam Miller, Elliot Washington, Audavion Collins
S: Jaylen Reed, Keaton Ellis, Zakee Wheatley, Kevin Winston Jr., Tyrece Mills
While the secondary needs to overcome some losses, there is still a ton of talent in the back end. Kalen King will be a leader as another potential future NFL corner in the mold of the guys that have come before him, like Joey Porter Jr. and many more.
Special Teams Depth Chart
K: Alex Felkins, Sander Sahaydak
P: Riley Thompson
LS: Tyler Duzansky
What could play huge for Penn State in the upcoming season is special teams, as the Nittany Lions will break in a new kicker and punter in 2023. At the same time, Riley Thompson looks like the guy to take over at punter. Often the forgotten phase of the game, having strong special teams newcomers could be the difference between third in the Big Ten East or a College Football Playoff Contention.
