NBA Picks & Parlay for May 13-14

Highlights

  • Jokic and Murray carry the Nuggets to even the series
  • Jayson Tatum remains unguardable against the Cavs
  • Donovan Mitchell needs more scoring help against Boston
  • Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving come up clutch

There will be no sweep of the defending NBA champions. In a must win situation over the weekend, the Nuggets emphatically tie the series, setting up a pivotal Game 5 back in Denver. After being written off, the Indiana Pacers come storming back to tie their series against the Knicks in what is being dubbed “The Mother’s Day Massacre.” After surviving a slugfest, the PA sports betting favorite to claim the Eastern Conference, the Celtics muscle their way to a 2-1 lead. As the second round of the NBA Playoffs. So, the stage is set for another week of expert NBA betting tips and the top PA sports betting apps to emerge victorious.

Oklahoma City vs. Dallas Mavericks Best Bet: Mavericks -1.5 | -115 at BetMGM Sportsbook

Of all the NBA playoff series, the Mavericks and Thunder is playing out how most of the basketball experts predicted. Game 3 all but certainly marked that this series is slated to go to seven. Highly physical and reminiscent of the tremendous half-court playoff battles from the 90s, you can go either way with the money line bet for both teams. Even though the Mavericks are picked as the favorites by BetMGM Sportsbook, the Thunder are +1.5 underdogs.

Look for Game 4 to be another nail bitter or possibly go into over time. Speaking overtime, BetMGM has Game 4 going into extra periods at +1250 odds. While this might seem steep, it might prove to be the steal of the week. But, if your gut is with the Thunder, a sound follow-up bet is that Oklahoma City will win between one to five points at +475 odds.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets Best Bet: Nuggets -4.5 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

If you thought that the Nuggets would be swept by the end of the weekend, you might have lost a lot of money. Backed by Nikola Jokic closing in on his third NBA MVP trophy and an aggressive Jamal Murray, the defending NBA champions pulled out two huge wins against a red-hot Anthony Edwards to tie the series. Even though DraftKings Sportsbook and other premier sportsbooks are picking the Nuggets to win the money line bet for Game 5 at -185 odds, they’re expecting it to be another nail-biter, so it’s hard to find fault if you decide to go with the underdog Timberwolves at +154 odds.

So far, Anthony Edwards has been huge in this series, so I look forward to him continuing his high-scoring ways, regardless of who wins the moneyline bet. Get a jump on your same-game parlay with Edwards to fulfill the 102 odds of going over 30.5 points. Likewise, look for Jokic to have a monster game offensively and complete the second leg of your same-game parlay with +260 odds to have a triple-double.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Best Bet: Knicks -2 | -110 at FanDuel Sportsbook

After dominating the first two games, it looked like the Knicks were well on their way to a sweep. But with the Pacers blowing out the Knicks, the 2024 playoff series is quickly shaping up to be like the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, which went seven games.

It’s fitting that FanDuel Sportsbook is calling Game 5 a toss-up up, with the Knicks winning the spread at -2 odds and the Pacers at +2 odds. One bet we feel comfortable with is Jalen Brunson going off at the Garden again and easily meeting the -120 odds line to score over 31.5 points.
